GO Outdoors

39 Glendoe Terrace, Inverness IV3 8DL, UK – 0344 387 6834

Great place. It used to be my Sunday Morning Church. Ordinarily excellent customer service but however, on rare occasion, such as on two hither too occasions, I have, at their request return ordinarily most excellent (lifelong guarantee) CRAGHOPPERS, {whom un-like Highlanders otherwise most excellent products, they honour} To Go Outdoors credit they changed one pair, but on this most recent visit, they wouldn’t the other Lamentably, that pair returned was, surprise, surprise, lost in post. Despite that, incredulously, CRAGHOPPERS still replaced as such As had PETZL to return had had to return one of two lights, I had purchased long ago which should also no doubt have been changed in store This paragraph is an ADDENDUM: I lamentably forgot to add THERMAREST whom un-like Highlanders life long warranty is worth the paper it's written on. Un-like some, they do listen. Not only have I had two replaced through no fault of theirs nor their design free gratis post 1983, the story behind both far to protracted to document herein, BUT, they heeded my suggestions thereby, somewhat changing the design. Having created anti-slip, produced a little longer & wider & improved/changed the valve design for which they gave me yet another free gratis...what more could I possibly wish for? Any wonder then, having had to relocate yet again, {this time, thanks to M.alevolent &(Ig)N.oble (M&N) & those other clueless, far worse than useless A.llied S.outer & J.affrey (AS&J) whom, like Newton Properties, couldn’t factor in a leggo kit}, I may well have mis-placed, worse, lost & /or can’t find the receipts? ASIDE: Well done GO OUTDOORS advising of the distinct possibility, that one may need either CAMPING GAZ and /or COLEMANS Gas Canisters, the former of which due to ludicrous aviation and /or legislation no longer permits to take abroad (as I used to 6 canisters for 6 weeks in British Colombia & Alberta, thereby saving finite time, seeking out as such in unknown territory, to prevent bush fires when then bush camping. How I wish I had known prior to jetting out to Victoria, Tasmania & New South Wales + New Zealand where in NZ, I eventually albeit, weeks later found Camping Gaz but couldn’t in Oz Hence forth, I now take both sets of burners

Having recently moved to the Highlands, this was my first visit to the store to look to purchase winter clothes for my night time photography. A very comprehensive and impressive store with a large selection of clothing and accesscory options to suit all budgets. I was able to kit myself out with 90% of the full set of clothes that I required with quality items and at decent prices Just a minor let down on the range of sizes available and this and the small number of staff on hand, dropped it from a 5 star rating. I've no hesitation to return and can thouroghly recommend the store.

Good back Friday sale! Got a coat and some reduced maps! Great! Staff are always helpful.

Fantastic service, really helpful. Their products were worth every penny, walking around Scotland in the rain and still completely dry!!

WalkingWorld.jpg
Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the UK. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks.

Crucially you can also find walks France, Spain, Norway, Portugal and Australia!

PARKING DIFFICULTIES? Within 500m thereof, at the rear of University of Highlands &Islands (Executive Offices) at Riverside, Gardens, adjacent The Rivers Ness, a little downstream of Ness Islands, just prior to The Eden Court, Theatre, immediately next to the middle of three, iron suspended footbridges, is ample parking. Notably on evenings & weekends. Notably Christmas & New Year Holidays season, even during University Holidays Very much so, through out, mid October through mid May outwith the holiday season, when then most apartments there and at the rear thereof, within Bishops Park adjacent the LGA Councils Administrative Halls just off Glen Urquahart Road, just prior to Eden Court Theatre behind the Invermess Tennis Club & in the most unlikely event, one should need to travel underneath the Bishops Park apartments (at the rear of Riverside Gardens where yet more ample parking should freely avail itself. Even for Camper Vans. Pariticularly those on limited budges. Mid Oct to mid May one can almost invariably use any bay numbered or not as most of the Flats to Let are then vacant but maybe best use those marked V.istor...why pay extortionate fees at the Highlands & Islands, Civic Hall and /or St Andrews Cathedral Car Park...don't you pay far to much fuel duty & notably road tax as it is? Should you be travelling from Beauly then (from Telford Roundabout adjacent Aldi, following signs for Fort William, turn into Bishops Road, first left past the LGA's H&I, Civic Halls past the roundabout then, ontoward the river and first right adjacent Highland Hospice & Leonard Cheshire Homes, immediately next to the suspended iron foot bridge & first right. In the most unlikely event it is full, there is a good turning circle therein. Should you have travelled from the town and /or city centre, having crossed Ness Bridge turn first left into Ness walk. Drive on past the Cathedral & Eden Court Theatre, turn left. At the mid -suspended footbridge, turn first right into UHI, first right & follow the road around the back thereof where ubiquitous free parking should almost invariably avail. This parking is probably less than 500m from Bught Park, (north bankside of river Ness) as is The Aquadome, Tennish Club, Leonard Cheshire Homes, Highland Hospice, Eden Court Theatre, St Andrews Cathedral, Palace & Columba Hotels, the Riva & Rocpool restaurants. The City Centre , Castle & Museum (South bankside of river Ness) as is The Tavern Ness Islands, need I say more? Should one be staying at the Columba & Palace Hotels given the awful parking thereabouts it maybe best drop off luggage and go park ones car at Riverside Gardens & as & when necessary, collect & drive back to collect baggage) all delightful walks alongside the river, anytime of year, bad & notably in good weather. Having resided there at No 32, Bishops Park, IV3 5TB circa 2006 - 12 & ditto, Riverside Gardens 2017, I can assure you, I never ever got tired of leaving both car & motorcyle & walking or cycling there along. I can't even start to convey how much pleasure it gave me & shall dearly miss it. PARKUP and enjoy. (There's a brand new coffee shop of which, I am led to believe, will be administered by those from Bught Park about to open adjacent the Eden Court Theatre, next to, the river too)...ENJOY!

I stay two nights in my motor home. Its very nice in good location and good price comparing to other campsites
