Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Inverness

The Mustard Seed Restaurant

16 Fraser St, Inverness IV1 1DW, UK – 01463 220220

Lovely meal from start to finish. Very reasonable priced considering my partner and me had all 3 courses and coffee. Naomi the waitress was an absolute delight and deserves all the tip instead of having to share as the other waitresses were pretty glum to be honest. Highly recommended as the food was fresh and in season. Thanks to chefs for an amazing meal.

Beautiful building and setting but I always feel the food is average. Especially if you consider the price. However on the balcony on one of those rare summer warm evenings it’s a great place to be. Any other time it’s not really, which is a shame as it could be amazing.

The Riverside Restaurant

10 Bank St, Inverness IV1 1QY, UK – 01463 714884

Very good food. A good choice if you are tired of greasy fish and chips or other classical Scottish dishes. They really offer some cuisine : tasty, fresh a creative twist. Good location. Reasonable prices. Best to reserve as it is small and tends to be full (we are not the only ones that like it)

Great family style small restaurant in what was probably an upmarket house in days gone by. The menu caters for up and downscale eating at lunch when we dropped by. They have everything from sandwiches up to steaks and more. The chef gave a great rendition of mussels in a cream and bacon sauce, the hot smoked salmon salad was fabulous and the kids were more than satisfied by the mac'n'cheese and the burger. Our 2 year old did say the kids' burger was underseasoned and lacking in flavour, but that is a fad countrywide.

Little Italy

8 Stephen's St, Inverness IV2 3JN, UK – 01463 712963

Great wee find. Everything was full of flavour and quality. Service was great too- special thanks to Denise. We had meatballs, veggie risotto, veggie calzone, pizza, cheezy pasta and garlic bread. All greatly enjoyed. Shame we live 170 miles away buy we will be back next summer. Place is small but it adds to ambience and was not off putting to us.

Not worth the money. The food was just ok. The main problem was the ambient. Tables too close to each other and very noisy, but not only because of noisy neighbors but because waiters kept being really loud with cutlery and expression machine. Almost aggressively. Didn’t help that they kept arguing with each other and it was evident. Overall I didn’t enjoy it and wouldn’t pay the money again.
